Dot NAME Domains

Introduced in 2001, the .NAME domain extension is the sole TLD meant for personal web pages only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are famous by. At the beginning, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to buy john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed 3rd-level domain names remained online.

You will have the chance to update the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our firm if you obtain its EPP transfer authorization key from the present registrar firm and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no special terms on who can acquire a dot NAME domain name, but in order to keep the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
